Travel Information (updated)Getting to Venture24 (start of expeditions) Additional info if you are travelling overseas for your expedition: If you are travelling overseas you will need a current passport with an expiry date of no later than 7th July 2024. If you do not currently have a passport, or it expires on or before the 7th July 2024, you need to make arrangements now to apply for or to renew your passport. Australians can pick up a passport application form at any Australia Post outlet, or find more information online at www.passports.gov.au Once you have your passport details, please ensure they are updated in the registration system. Passports can take some time to arrange, so we would recommend you follow this up NOW. Getting from your expedition to Core Camp: Venture24 will arrange all travel between expeditions and Core Camp at Lardner Park. If you are travelling to Venture24 independently, there will be an additional cost for this which will be added to your registration once any required flights have been booked. When and where do I muster for my expedition?Below is the time and place you'll need to meet your expedition. If you are traveling from interstate, you must make your own way to your nearest major airport and from there you will be transported to these muster locations. If you are an independent traveler, you are responsible for ensuring your booked flight/transport allows for enough time to reach these locations on time. What is 'The App' everyone keeps talking about?'The App' is the place to get all the info you need on your personalised Venture24 experience. It includes: Your flight/transport details to and from the event. The ability to book paid and included offsite activities. Receive real time notifications and updates while at Venture24. Day by day program of the Core Camp. Site maps. Emergency contacts. And more coming!!! How do I contact my Expedition Leader?Each expedition has its own email, you can contact your expedition leader using the emails below. Remember if you are a Youth Member, you much CC another Adult to ensure that the Scouts Australia Policy of 2-Up is maintained at all times, even while communicating online.

I'm traveling internationally with Venture24 and have a tent, what do I do?Unsure on what you need to do with your tent or where it goes? Here is all the info you need. Departing from Melbourne or Sydney airport on/or before 1st January 2024 Pack your tent separately from your main bag, ready to hand to a Venture24 team member who will store them for you until you collect them at Core Camp. Make sure your tent is clearly labelled with your name and expedition. Transiting through Melbourne or Sydney on/or before 1st January 2024 Pack pegs and other sharp items in checked luggage. Take remaining non sharp tent parts in carry on to be handed to Venture24 team when transiting through Melbourne or Sydney International Departures. Make sure your tent is clearly labelled with your name and expedition. Flying from another location not via Melb / Syd on/or before 1st January 2024 You will need to take your tent with you on your expedition. Make sure it is clean and dry before you leave, then seal it in a garbage bag or similar. Don’t unpack it or use it during your expedition (you won’t need it anyway). When you come back through customs explain that you have a tent but it wasn’t used overseas. If you want to hire a tent for use at the campsite (so you don’t have to bring your own), please contact info@venture24.au. The cost of hiring a tent is $20.

I'm a leader with a car going to an expedition, what do I do?In simple, Venture24 is not able to coordinate the storing of your vehicle before the Core Camp period starting on the 7th January 2024. This means you’ll need to make your own arrangements. Here are some options to consider on getting to an Expedition Muster Point or if you’re helping to pick up a Mini Bus for your expedition: Getting dropped off Public transport Car pooling/Uber Once we arrive on site from the 7th January 2024, there is room available for you to bring your car and/or caravan onsite in the carpark. I'm an interstate attendee, what do I need to know?Can someone from another state attend Venture24? You betcha! Everyone is welcome to attend, no matter which state you come from. How do interstate participants sign up? You should sign up just like everyone else, after registrations open on 13 March. The process is no different for interstate participants. Once we have received your application, we will contact your state branch for participant approval. What about travelling from interstate? How does that work? Travel to and from your closest designated major airport to Melbourne will be offered as part of your Venture package at cost (and of course all travel during the event is included in your Venture fee). You will need to make your own way to your closest major airport to fly to Melbourne for the event, and your own way home from the airport. Do I get priority if there’s an expedition in my state? No - expeditions are allocated on a first come first served basis for everyone, no matter where you live.

Once we have received your application, we will contact your Scout Organisation for participant approval. What about travelling from international locations? How does that work? If you are from New Zealand: Travel to and from your closest designated major airport to Melbourne will be offered as part of your Venture package at a surcharge (and of course all travel during the event is included in your Venture fee). You will need to make your own way to your closest major airport to fly to Melbourne for the event, and your own way home from the airport. If you are from somewhere other than New Zealand: If attending from somewhere other than New Zealand, you will need to organise your own transport from your country to your designated airport (most likely Melbourne Airport). When entering Australia there are customs requirements – we will let you know what these are once your travel arrangements are confirmed. Do I get priority for expeditions? No - expeditions are allocated on a first come first served basis for everyone, no matter where you live.

What dates is this being held?Expeditions are of varying lengths, so the start date varies between 31 December 2023 and 3 January 2024. All participants will then travel back to Lardner Park in Gippsland, Victoria, on 7 January for the core camp running from 8-12 January and then a travel day home on 13 January. Venture24 will not be offering a post-tour and we encourage Venturers who wish to take their adventure to the max to check out some of our international expeditions instead.

What are eligibility requirements for Venture24?All Venturer Scouts must: Be approved by their Venturer Leader & Group Leader and confirmed as being an active member of their Venturer Unit For Venturers registered outside Victoria, be approved by their branch Agree to uphold the Scout promise and law, and event rules including the Venturer Youth Code of Conduct policy. There are no second chances for breaches of this code of conduct policy, breaches will result in being sent home immediately. Have turned 14 years old by 30 December 2023 Have completed Program Essentials Introduction to Section for Venturer Scouts, and Outdoor Adventure Skills Stage 3 in each of Bushcraft, Bushwalking, and Camping Whilst the Victorian Venturer Council policy for 18-year-old Venturers states an 18-year-old Venturer is to finish Venturers by 31 December in their year 12 year, approval has been granted for this event to allow them to remain in Venturers until the conclusion of Venture 24 subject to the following criteria. In addition, Venturer Scouts who have turned 18 before the event or will turn 18 during the event must also: Have competed and hold a working with children’s card/check for their state, with proof on their extranet record) Have completed the child safe modules as outlined by the Victorian Venturer Council 18-year-old Venturer policy (BCORE - Child Safe & WHS) Agree to sleep in a separate tent to under 18 Venturers (either in a single tent or with other over 18 Venturers) Sign and agree to the Adult Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics Sign and agree to follow the extra event rules for 18-year-old Venturers: Acknowledge they are subject to the same obligations as Venturers and are not entitled to participate in conduct limited to anyone 18 years or older Acknowledge as 18 year old Venturers they are Adults in Scouting and the Adults in Scouting rules apply to them. Must not develop personal relationships with under 18 Venturers as the Adult on Youth Scouts policy applies Where they have an existing personal relationship with an under 18 year old Venturer , particular care needs to be taken to ensure the Adults on Youth Scouts policy is adhered to. We expect this policy to apply to our interstate and international participants and we will make sure to keep you updated once you have registered to attend Venture24.

What is your withdrawal policy?Our withdrawal policy is stated on our full terms and conditions which can be accessed here. Below is taken directly from our terms and conditions document. If after making an application to attend the Event, you are unable to attend, you must advise us in writing as soon as possible to claim any refund. For any claims related to a withdrawal, the following table shall apply. Any claims for a refund outside the scope of the table, are at the sole discretion of the Event Council. For the avoidance of doubt, any Government requirement placed upon You to attend the Event, which is not met by You, is considered to be a withdrawal for personal reasons, and no refund will be made. When are we getting our Merch for Venture24?Due to some significant supply chain delays, Merch will no longer be delivered to you in the mail. Instead you'll collect it at your muster point from your expedition leader. Your merch pack includes: x2 Venture24 Shirts x2 Venture24 Badges x1 Venture24 Scarf x1 international scarf (only for those attending an international expedition) If you receive the wrong size shirt or would like to change it, please try swapping with people in your expedition before coming to the team at Core Camp as we have very a limited supply of additional shirts.
